In Kosovo you can often find cars at short notice, but availability for popular dates and larger vehicles is limited. The deposit is normally a pre-authorisation on your card, not an actual charge. Once the car is checked in with no new damage or unpaid fees, the hold is released, usually within 3–10 working days, depending on your bank. Fuel prices fluctuate but, as a general indication, petrol and diesel in Kosovo are often around 1.40–1.70 EUR per litre. Many filling stations accept cards as well as cash.
