Privacy & Cookies Policy

Last updated: January 2026

Bookingcar (“Bookingcar”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use bookingcar.eu, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Please read it alongside our cookie information below.

1. Who we are

Bookingcar is an independent car-rental comparison service. We bring together offers from rental suppliers and their booking-technology providers so you can compare and reserve a vehicle. For the personal data we process about visitors to bookingcar.eu, Bookingcar acts as the data controller. You can reach us using the contact details at the end of this policy.

2. The data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Search and booking details — pick-up and drop-off location, dates and times, driver age, and the vehicle you choose.
  • Contact and reservation details — the name, email address, phone number and payment information needed to complete a booking with the rental supplier.
  • Support communications — the messages you send us and our replies when you contact customer support or use the chat.
  • Technical and usage data — your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you interact with the site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How and why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • process and manage your reservation and pass the necessary details to the rental supplier;
  • provide customer support and handle changes, cancellations and refunds;
  • operate, secure and improve our website and prevent fraud and misuse;
  • comply with our legal obligations; and
  • where you have agreed, send you relevant offers and measure how our marketing performs.

Depending on the purpose, we rely on one of the following legal bases: performance of the contract for your booking, our legitimate interests in running and improving the service securely, compliance with a legal obligation, or your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies and marketing).

4. Who we share it with

We share your booking details with the rental supplier you choose and with our booking-technology partner (CarTrawler) solely to fulfil and service your reservation. We also use trusted service providers — for example for hosting, analytics, customer-support chat and payment processing — who act on our instructions under appropriate contracts. We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Because rental suppliers and our partners operate worldwide, your data may be transferred to countries outside your own. Where we do so, we put appropriate safeguards in place — such as standard contractual clauses — to protect your data in line with applicable law.

6. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work, and — with your consent — analytics and marketing cookies to understand how the site is used and to personalise content. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

7. Marketing

We only send marketing emails where you have consented, and every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Withdrawing consent will not affect the servicing of any booking you have already made.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our service, support your bookings, and meet our legal, accounting and fraud-prevention obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

9. Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption of data in transit, access controls and regular review of our systems and providers.

10. Your rights

Under applicable data-protection law (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR) you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, ask for portability, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. To exercise any right, email privacy@bookingcar.eu.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our service or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the changes are significant, bring them to your attention.

12. Contact us

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, write to Bookingcar, 72 Hammersmith Road, London W14 8TH, United Kingdom, or email privacy@bookingcar.eu.
