If we talk about speed limits on roads in Ljubljana, the exact figures can be found on road signs. Otherwise, you should be guided by the following figures:
- Motorcycles and cars are allowed to travel within built-up areas at a speed of 50 km/h. A vehicle with a trailer is allowed to accelerate to the same speed.
- Outside built-up areas, vehicles with or without a trailer are allowed to travel at a speed of 90 km/h.
- On expressways it is permitted to accelerate to 110 km/h; for cars with a trailer this limit is reduced to 100 km/h.
- Cars on motorways without a trailer are permitted to accelerate to 130 km/h; when a car is towing a trailer, this limit is reduced by 30 km/h.
Permitted alcohol level
When driving on roads in Ljubljana, the driver should be completely sober; the maximum blood alcohol level must not exceed 0.5 ‰. Breaching these rules will result in a fine, the amount of which can be seen below:
