Road traffic regulations in Croatia
The road traffic regulations are not anyhow different from the European ones. None the less, if you travel along Croatia in a rented car, you will need to take some nuances into consideration. For example, the policeman has a right to deprive a person of a driving license in the following cases:
- Alcohol intoxication
- Driver’s illness such as increased body temperature and attenuation
- Absence of glasses or contact lenses in case the necessity in them is pointed out in the medical certificate.
There is no sense to argue with the policeman. You risk getting quite a large fine.
Cost of fuel in Croatia
There are quite many automated fuel stations in Croatia. The payment for fuel at these fuel stations can be made by credit card only. Nevertheless, it is possible to find stations who accept payment in cash. However, there are rather few such stations. The cost of fuel is average all over Europe.
- One liter of fuel 95 costs 1.34 Euro
- The price for one liter of fuel 98 is 1.38 Euro
- One liter of diesel fuel costs 1.28 Euro
Sophisticated travelers recommend filling the car with fuel within the limits of the city since the prices at fuel stations located near highways are a little bit higher.
Toll roads in Croatia
In Croatia, toll roads are a usual phenomenon. It is also necessary to pay for driving through some tunnels and on particular bridges. However, this is not a reason to refuse from a car. The cost of passage is so small that it is not worth being taken into account.
The payment is made according to the standard system. When entering the paid road, a driver is obliged to get a special ticket where the start of the way will be pointed out. When leaving the toll road, the driver will be obliged to provide this ticket for the operator who will take the payment.
